Social Emotional & Behavior Supports

The Technical Assistance Center on Social Emotional Intervention for Young Children, (TACSEI) is a five-year grant made possible by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. TACSEI takes the research that shows which practices improve the social-emotional outcomes for young children with, or at risk for, delays or disabilities and creates FREE products and resources to help decision makers, caregivers, and service providers apply these best practices in the work they do every day. Visit the TACSEI website at: www.challengingbehavior.org

The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) is focused on promoting the social emotional development and school readiness of young children birth to age five. CSEFEL is a national resource center funded by the Office of Head Start and Child Care Bureau for disseminating research and evidence-based practices to early childhood programs across the country. Visit the CSEFEL website at: www.vanderbilt.edu/csefel/

Research Synthesis on Screening and Assessing Social-Emotional Competence:
This new resource from CSEFEL provides information for early care and education providers on how to use evidence-based practices to screen and assess the social-emotional competence of infants, toddlers, and young children. This helpful guide also provides several resources and includes a useful table that makes it easy to compare some sample social and emotional screening and assessment tools across a number of areas including age, purpose and administration time. Download the article at: http://www.vanderbilt.edu/csefel/documents/rs_screening_assessment.pdf

Pyramid Plus
The Colorado Center for Social Emotional Competence and Inclusion bgan operations at the University of Colorado Denver under the direction of Dr. Barbara J. Smith. The goal of Pyramid Plus is to increase the use of the Pyramid Model, the SpecialQuest approach and other evidence-based practices in early care and educational settings, including family home care. Pyramid Plus will build the statewide competence of personnel through a network of certified trainers and program coaches to broaden the reach of the approach. This will be accomplished through visits to early care and educational settings throughout Colorado where they can train and coach employees who teach Colorado’s children. For more information, visit www.pyramidplus.org.
