WhatA child's overall development is strengthened when educators and families work together. By engaging parents/guardians and families in a collaborative process that puts the student’s needs first, we can improve attendance, academic outcomes, and graduation rates. Through this team approach, we also encourage the development of self-regulation and prosocial skills that students need to be successful throughout their lifetime. This presentation will identify strategies on how to create a welcoming environment and build sustainable relationships with parents/guardians and families that can create opportunities for increased involvement in the home, classroom and community. Participants will also learn how to address barriers to engagement and link parents/guardians with appropriate resources that will support the entire family.
