News at the ESC of the Western Reserve

ESCWR recognizes staff across Lake and Geauga Counties

The ESCWR recognized some of its regional school district and program staff. The ESC administration selected individuals that have stepped up in their role to become leaders in their field or program. Our nominees are listed below. 

ESCWR County Wide Programs: Isabella Caperton, Stars program teacher at Jordak Elementary School in the Cardinal School District, and Katie Hendricks, BRC program teacher at Westwood Elementary School in the West Geauga School District.

District Leadership: Jim Kish, Principal at Westwood Elementary School in the West Geauga School District. 

District Teachers: Megan Cerbin, Spanish Teacher & English Language Coordinator in the Fairport Harbor Exempted Village School District and  Angie Fairbanks, Nurse at Harding High School in the Fairport Harbor Exempted Village School District. 

ESCWR Staff: Deb Burke, Director of Human Resources & Operations; Becky Tressler, Human Resources Generalist, Katie Hoffmeister, Assistant Treasurer, and Donna Zoldak- Cook, Director of Special Programs & Accountability, Interim Pupil Services Coordinator with the Cardinal School District.

Selecting High Quality Curriculum and Intervention Materials

Prepare for your next curriculum purchase by narrowing your search to only those materials that are of high quality. This session will provide you with an overview of the following online tools: EdReports, Ohio's What Works Clearinghouse, Evidence for ESSA, and the IES What Works Clearinghouse. Participants will learn how to compare programs, review reports, and create a planning timeline for their next textbook adoption. We hope you can join us for this session on January 20th! ESCWR Opening Day Meeting 2021-2022

On August 11, 2021 our staff  met virtually for the annual opening day meeting! The ESC of the Western Reserve's Mission, Vision and Goals were discussed, fiscal/ human resource updates were provided and new staff members were introduced. Thank you Cleveland Kids' Book Bank for your generous donation to our Summer Sidekicks Enrichment Programs! This collaboration allowed for students attending our summer enrichment programs to receive a free book to cultivate reading interest and promote literacy. We are grateful for the support!
