ESCWR Student & Family Resource Center (SFRC) - Tutoring

No cost tutoring launched in January 2021 and was made available from the Whole Child grant. Students from any school district in Lake or Geauga County, in grades 5-12 can receive in-person tutoring in ELA/reading, math, science and social studies. High School Math Pathways & Algebra 2 Course Alternatives Overview

Please join the ESCWR on December 6th in hosting ODE Math expert and leader Anna Cannelongo as she shares an overview of the High School Math Pathways and Algebra 2 Course Alternatives. The course alternatives:  Quantitative Reasoning, Data Science Foundations, Discrete Math/Computer Science, Statistics and Probability, and Algebra 2 (updates) are important pathways for our local schools and districts to consider as our students need a more focused approach aligned to students' projected career paths. In addition, the scope and sequence of these courses incorporate hands on learning, real world application, critical thinking, as well as incorporate the CCSS Mathematical Practice standards.If you missed the November 9-10 Math Pathways Virtual Symposium, this is an opportune time to attend this session as pilot applications for Quantitative Reasoning and Data Science Foundations are due on December 16, 2021 to the Department. Gifted Inquiry Network

Collaboration can lead to a better student outcomes, support for instruction, and general collegiality. Please join our ESC of the Western Reserve Gifted Education Network in collaboration with Summit ESC as we work together to share ideas and successful strategies of high effect size, act as a sounding-board for each other, stay up to date on ODE and Ohio happenings, and support each other with instructional implementation. Monthly meetings will be a time to connect with others who share your experiences. Learn Inquiry processes and Inquiry Step Back Consultancy processes in order to help support and problem-solve ideas other district colleagues are struggling with.

November is Family Literacy Month!

November is Family Literacy Month! Let's help young learners develop a lifelong love of reading. Imagination Ohio is available to children, from birth to age five, in Ohio. Visit OhioImaginationLibrary.org to enroll your family to receive a book in the mail each month at no cost.

The Suicide Prevention Coalition of the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services is proudly participating in a Movember campaign for the third year. During the month of November, the Coalition will be promoting a shared mission, expressed by HeadsUpGuys.org. “HeadsUpGuys is an online resource that supports men in their fight against depression by providing tips, tools, information about professional services, and stories of success.” Depression is a thief; it’s an illness that can rob you of your will to live. This resource sparks conversation and awareness for men’s mental health, how to get help, and where to find help.
