Welcome back message from Superintendent, Jennifer Felker

Dear ESCWR Staff and Schools,

Welcome back to the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve (ESCWR) for the 2023-2024 school year! I want to express my deep appreciation for your hard work and unwavering dedication to the students, families, and schools you support.

I genuinely value and appreciate the tremendous contributions you make to students, families, schools, and the community as a whole.

Our commitment to enhancing the work of our school districts with professional support remains unwavering. In the coming weeks, I eagerly anticipate visiting classrooms and spending time in our programs and schools. I am confident that by working together, we can make this the best school year ever. Once again, I extend my heartfelt thanks for your commitment to your students.

Dyslexia Training Facilitation Catch Up

While many schools made plans last year to deliver the 18-hour mandated dyslexia training through ODE, circumstances have left a few teachers from being able to participate in the training. In these virtual sessions, ESCWR staff will hold enrichment sessions and facilitation to support teachers’ 18-hour training. If you are interested in scheduling this virtual support for your district please contact Dr. Beth Walsh-Moorman and Dr. Kelly Moran at [email protected] and [email protected].

Future Forward Ohio, Spotlight on ESC of the Western Reserve

During the following conversation, Dr. Kelly Moran, who serves as the Director of Instructional Programs with the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve, discusses the utilization of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds. These funds were employed to address the issue of student learning loss caused by the pandemic. The approach involved the allocation of resources for supplementary training and the deployment of literacy coaches to support multiple districts within their region. View the complete article here.
